This small oil painting on box canvas was inspired by a large opal specimen held at the New Walk Museum in Leicetester. Scaled up to the point of abstraction, I love the way this could also be an aerial photograph. It has been produced as part of a large series of 8 x 8 studies and abstractions, but also has a matching pair.
