£650 (GBP)1830mm x 913mm (three canvasses)Oil on canvasThis contemporary triptych has been painted using various techniques- dripping, splashing, pouring, spraying and impasto. Edges (13mm deep) are painted white. This painting has taken a while to complete and has undergone a number of changes over the years, hence the title. The composition is a juxtaposition of various motifs and represents a typical Venetian experience. The right hand nautical feature was spotted whilst strolling by the Lagoon, with the precious metal-leaf serving as a contrast against the decaying façades. The sun graffiti was chosen for its subtlety and because it complements the gold sun-like motif, whilst the wire is reminiscent of the Lagoon’s horizon line, studded with shipping lane posts. |
