This very large oil painting on box canvas was inspired by a visit to the beautiful Florentine basilica Santa Croce. I have a fondness of Church interiors and the painting relfects upon the spirituality of my visit. The floor plan featured is of course the layout of the basilica itself and the painting also incorporates the churches own Byzantine cross by Cimabue.
