This painting was created by allowing poured washes to dictate the initial composition. As the painting progressed certain areas were built up using thick impasto, and sgraffito techniques were used for the foliage in the foreground. Although the landscape is an imaginary one, I'm sure my memories of a cliff top walk in Pembrokeshire influenced the use of colour and to some extent the final composition.
